The new Emergency Response Guidebook from DOT #erg2024 is out! Hazmat professionals, emergency responders, and material handlers/drivers need to update or download the new app - see QR codes below or go to www.phmsa.dot.gov/training/hazmat/erg/emergency-response-guidebook-erg.There's a great summary of key changes on the PHMSA website, but here are some key takeaways:- 11 NEW UN numbers- 19 UN numbers moved to a DIFFERENT guide for response- ADDED considerations for Li battery and #ElectricVehicles fires (in reference pages)- ADDED decision support for determining Evacuation vs Shelter in Place (ref pages)To find the Evac vs Shelter in Place navigate to the Reference Pages, then Protective Distance, the Protective Action Decision Factors, and scroll to the bottom. This is a quick guide, not a detailed plan, but this question comes up a lot when we hold #hazwoper classes so it's worth a look. Communication is key!
